Vincent Willem van Gogh

Vincent Willem van Gogh was born in 1853 in Zundert. He was a dutch post-Impressionist painter with 900 pictures (27 self-portraits and 148 watercolors) and 1,600 drawings. His work was then known to only handful of people and appreciated by fewer still. Today is one of the painters most famous in the world.

In the  childhood he went to school way dashed and irregular, as his parents sent him to different boarding schools. The first of the in Zevenbergen, where he studied French and aleman.6  two years later enrolled at the Hannik Instituteand. There was born his interest in painting. About his childhood, Vincent van Gogh said: "my youth was sad, cold and sterile.

He suffered frequent bouts of mental illness throughout his life, which led him to produce a bullet wound that ended his life at the age of 37.
